WHAT WE HEAR: Planners are way too expensive for what they do

BIGGEST lie right here!!

As long as you have done your research, looked at their work and how they design and implement, and you feel a great vibe from them? They are worth every single penny.

Remember that we are all in an industry that people tend to mistakenly take a face value. But Picasso didn’t learn how to paint in a day. Your favorite professional Athlete didn’t just suddenly become able to defy most of our physical limits.

There are skills that are honed and developed over years and years of trial and error, continuing education, upgrading their processes, hiring staff, and so much more. Remember that you’re not paying a vendor for what they do ON the day. You’re investing in skills that have taken years and thousands upon thousands of dollars to cultivate.

Gah! Love an emotional first touch moment.

Bonus Planning Tip:

When interviewing Planners, make sure to delve into what their *design* experience is. Do they have experience designing? Are they a good event Designer that makes sure ALL of the elements and vendors you’re thinking of can actually execute the overall look/vibe that you want? For example, let’s say you want cool kid vibes and boho florals, with an editorial feel…you may not know that the florist you chose simply cannot execute that look for you. But your planner does! We have seen many couples hire a florist with a super traditional style, that are having a super funky non-traditional wedding. Make it make sense!

While Photographers can create magic here and there, ultimately we are shooting what is already there. We’ve seen amazing ceremony and reception designs from Planners, and some that range from just not good to a reception layout that doesn’t even make sense/allow us to move around to get the best shots for you. Don’t assume all Planners are designers, so make sure to ask what their process is for cultivating the overall aesthetic of your day!

Bonus Planning Tip #2

Even if your budget is VERY low, you still need a Planner! For example, our overall wedding budget was $7000, believe it or not (we decided to have under 50 guests to make it work)! But we knew for suuuure that we didn’t have all the time in the world to do it ourselves, so our Planner was almost ½ of our budget. And we literally could not have done it without them!
